Bythynnod Pengwernydd Cottages - Five Star Self Catering Holiday Accommodation

The Cottages

Our self catering accommodation is equipped to the highest standard, with all the attention to detail you would expect from a five star holiday.

The Barn / Y Scubor
sleeps 6 (up to 10 if adjoined with the Beudy), cot available

Y Beudy / The Barn with slate flagstone floor in the kitchen / dining area and sumptous leather settees in the lounge area

This is the largest of our self-catering cottages. Y ‘Sgubor, which translated means the Barn, is where the straw and feed were stored.

The front access to this cottage is level and suitable for the less mobile. It opens directly into a spacious open plan lounge / dining / kitchen area. Part of the original slate flagstone floor has been relaid in the kitchen / dining area and some walls have been retained as exposed stone, all adding to the warmth and character of the accommodation.

The kitchen is fully equipped with high quality appliances and a comprehensive range of cutlery and glasses. The solid granite surfaces and oak cabinets all add to the luxury. The five star quality is continued in the lounge area. Large comfortable leather sofas, soft cushions and cosy rugs all add to the home from home ambience. As with all our cottages there is a new TV and DVD player.

A beautiful oak staircase, crafted by a local carpenter, leads up to a large first floor bedroom with a pitched ceiling and two velux windows which afford a wonderful view of the hillside. This spacious bedroom has both double and single beds dressed in antique “Strippy” Welsh Quilts and 100% cotton bed linen helping to maintain the unique Welsh holiday atmosphere.

At the rear of the cottage, on the ground floor is a large bedroom suitable for a wheelchair user. It has a fully tiled en-suite bathroom with a wet floor shower and handrails near the WC and wash hand basin.

There is also a second bathroom in the cottage. This bathroom is light, spacious and fully tiled with the added bonus of a whirlpool bath and overbath shower.

A back door leads out onto a patio area with wooden garden furniture, ideal for admiring the views or to simply sit and relax with a glass of wine in the evening. You can watch the red kites, buzzards and other birds soaring in the skies above, see the sheep grazing and observe the wildlife.

Y ‘Sgubor has the added facility of being able to open up and join with Y Beudy; either to add 1 bedroom or to completely combine both cottages - ideal for large families or friendly get-togethers.

Full central heating is included in the cost of your holiday, as are all electricity, towels and bed linen, making Pengwernydd an ideal holiday getaway at any time of the year.
