The Carthouse / Y Cartws

This detached cottage is made up of the old carthouse and pigsties although you would never realise it now! It is full of character and provides luxurious self catering accommodation for three to four people.

The carthouse as the name suggests housed the cart in olden days, however more recently the Land Rover! Its large front opening is now fully glazed and gives wonderful views of the hillside and a spacious airy atmosphere to the cottage.

With the large open plan lounge/dining area the Carthouse has ample space for a family of three or four yet has a cosy atmosphere thanks to the extensive soft furnishings.

A custom built solid oak galley kitchen retains its original slate flagstone floor and is fully equipped. This leads in turn to a light and airy fully tiled bathroom with a spacious bath and overbath shower with a glass screen.

The first floor which was called the ‘loft storehouse’ was originally accessed by the external stone steps and here the grain was stored. Now a beautiful oak staircase, crafted by a local carpenter, takes you up to the first floor. Here the main feature is a wonderful large bespoke window which provides a spectacular view.

In the bedroom the double and single beds are dressed in exquisite antique Welsh Quilts and 100% cotton bedlinen. From here there is a door leading out to the external flight of stone steps. This provides a high view point with a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside.

A back door leads from the kitchen out onto a delightful patio area, also accessible from the external stone steps.
